Safety Management Systems and How to Develop Strategies for Improvement

Applying OHSAS 18001, and OSHA VPP in Your Safety Program

Too often safety managers will implement the SMS as a standalone system.  Such an approach will yield results likely to be of limited value.  The next step is as important as designing a comprehensive SMS, and that is assuring that the SMS is seamlessly integrated with your organization’s business management system (BMS).  Once that step is accomplished, the overall effectiveness of the SMS and the business will dramatically increase. Join us today to learn how to take your safety program and your organization to the next level!

You Will Learn How To:
  • Evaluate the key and necessary components of an effective safety management system (SMS)
  • Assess the effectiveness of your existing safety management system and identify potential gaps to address
  • Evaluate the differences between a standalone SMS vs. an integrated SMS in accomplishing the organization’s Business Management System (BSM) goals in all areas, including safety and health
  • Consider proven techniques for integrating an SMS into the day to day operations of your organization’s business management system
