On November 28, 2016, EPA published the updated Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule. The new rule will affect how hazardous waste generators track and manage hazardous waste.
Some of the new changes will affect how hazardous waste generators manage containers, areas, buildings, tanks, and other related equipment with a focus on storage areas and containers including both satellite accumulation and central accumulation containers, areas, and buildings. The rule also addresses pre-transport requirements for hazardous waste shipments, and updated reporting requirements.
The new requirements are relatively straightforward and are designed to simplify and clarify the existing rules. You will need, however, to clearly understand what is required and when it will go into effect for your facilities. Following promulgation at the federal level on May 30, 2017, individual States will fully adopt the new requirements during the 2017-2018 timeframe. Get a detailed review of the new requirements and learn best strategies and approaches for assuring compliance.
You'll Learn How To:
- Assess the new requirements for hazardous waste generators in the Hazardous Waste Generator Improvement Rule
- Review the new requirements as they apply to very small quantity generators (VSQG), small quantity generators (SQG), and large quantity generators (LQG) to determine applicability to your organization
- Assess how the rule impact existing labeling requirements
